A little bit country, a little bit rock-n-roll, a little bit dangerous, a little bit nerdy--Stars & Garters are making a bass-thumpin', hollow-body-guitar wailin' name for ourselves in the Sacramento country music scene and beyond, including a SAMMIE award nomination and the cover of local music rag, Alive & Kicking. Inspired by the greats Johnny, Merle, George, Hank, Lefty, and Buck, Stars & Garters take a traditional country cocktail and serve it up with a pop, punk, and rockabilly chaser.
Drummer Michael Minnick, a veteran of San Francisco's music scene, says of the band, “We're changing the way the world views country music, one hipster at a time.” Joe Carlson (vocals/pedal steel/guitar) is a little more philosophical: “Imagine the bastard love child of Brooks and Dunn and Big & Rich—we’re the opposite of that. Come to think of it, now that Bon Jovi is considered country, I don't know what we are."
